25th Anniversary of the Organ: Concert and Reception

September 29, 2023 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Keith S. Reas will be joining us as concert organist. Originally from upstate NY, he earned degrees in organ from Oberlin College (as a student of Garth Peacock), The University of Oregon (with John Hamilton), and The Eastman School of Music, where he was a student of Russell Saunders. Since being awarded First Prize in the 1985 International Organ Playing Competition in Ann Arbor, MI, he has performed solo and collaborative concerts throughout the US and in England, Germany, and Italy. He has held major church positions in Richland, WA; Phoenix, AZ; Washington, D.C. and Chattanooga, TN; led community and college choruses; and been a frequent performer at early music festivals. With flutist Linda Marianiello he recorded two CDs of organ/flute repertoire on the MSR label, and is the organist on two discs with the choral group Musikanten (Kerry Krebill, conductor). In 2018 he retired to Rochester, NY with his husband and cats, where he is co-artisitic coordinator for the Third Thursday Concerts with Eastman’s Italian Baroque Organ at the Memorial Art Gallery, outreach coordinator for the Eastman organ department and active in the American Guild of Organists. He remains busy as a recitalist, and as substitute and interim organist in the Rochester area.

Keith is honored to be invited to play the 25th Anniversary concert on the Richards, Fowkes Op. 9 at Christ Church. He is excited to be back in Chattanooga where he served as Director of Music at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church from 2009-2018, and hopes to see many friends and colleagues.

Punch, prosecco, and heavy hors d’oeuvres with be served in Fox Hall following the concert.
